Kata, a Japanese word, is a kind of choreographed series of movements that teach students movements that match their level of skill.

The Adult Kata Program is similar to the martial arts classes you have probably seen on television and movies. Students in this program learn by memorizing and executing Kata. Performing Kata helps student’s perfect basic moves so they can move on to more advanced concepts. As the student progresses through a series of belts, the Kata become more difficult. This keeps classes challenging without asking students to do things they aren't prepared for.

By performing Kata, students improve their general fitness. Practicing increases strength and improves endurance. When students move up to a new belt, they must meet higher fitness requirements. It's a step by step process that lets adults develop at their own pace.
